A weekend trip out of London
Last Friday evening, me and boyfriend T went on a weekend break outside London :-). We had a great time together, but as a result, I've had no time to write a blog post. In these situations I usually post pics of where I've been, and get readers to guess the location. Last time I did that, it took just 2 minutes (!) before a reader left a comment which correctly identified that I'd been in Dubai. This time I hope that the mystery will last a bit longer. So can anyone work out where I've been from the two pictures below, which were taken on Saturday morning?

Sion House
ReplyDeleteMalmaison?
ReplyDeletehehe, at last, after many attempts, I've finally managed to put up some pics that haven't been immediately identified! Neither of the anonymous commentators are right.
ReplyDeleteHowever, I have blogged about this place before ...

Not Syon house, for sure. These grounds are a little too opulent.
ReplyDeleteI'm wondering if it's Cliveden, formerly home of the Astor family and where John Profumo first met Christine Keeler??!!
Can I withdraw that last guess. I could say that the Orangery is not of the right period for Cliveden, but no, the more telling clue is behind the Orangery in the trees. Seems to me you hardly left London at all though I still can't place your exact location. These gardens do look splendid though.
ReplyDeleteI think this must be Bagatelle, outside Paris in the Bois de Boulogne. Is that correct?
ReplyDeleteyeah must be Bagatelle and a wing of the Grand Trianon at Versailles

Yes Beau, you're 100% right! We spend last weekend in Paris, and following my own tip, we had lunch at the restaurant in Bagatelle last Saturday :-). Both pics are actually of Bagatelle, recent anonymous commenter. Anyway, GB is happy that at last, he's put up a decent puzzle for where he'd been that wasn't solved immediately!
