Christmas charity donations
For the last three years, I've asked readers to give me suggestions for Christmas charity donations (see 2007, 2008, 2009). This year an excess of £2k has built up in my account with the Charities Aid Foundation, so it's time to give it away to good causes. All suggestions welcome, the only condition is that the beneficiaries have to be registered UK charities :-).

I normally go for 'Action Against Hunger UK' and 'Cancer Research UK'...
I think Tacade do marvelous work. They produce materials for teachers etc to help kids with their well being (alcohol, safe sex, bereavement etc).
They having a Tackling Homophobia programme on the go at the moment. I don't know who else is doing such work.
http://www.tacade.com and they're on Facebook.
I continue to support the Food Chain.
I think as a gay man it is important to support an HIV/AIDS charity, even although it's not just the gays.

Edna - Tacade make a lot of money selling the products they make. I know we have bought them at work on several occasions.
Gay Banker, I'd look at the Albert Kenedy Trust, housing young people who are kicked out of their homes because of their sexuality. Either that or as MadeInScotland suggests - a HIV/AIDS charity.

Give to the Rambert Dance Company's campaign for the new centre on the South Bank and I will match your donation if you tell me what it is.

I also vote for the Albert Kenedy Trust.
@Antony The ed materials are how Tacade made some money. Not entirely sure if that's 'a lot' of money as you say, but happy to be corrected!
PS: It's 'Enda' not 'Edna' - I'm a boy! ;D
The Albert Kenedy Trust looks very worthy to me.
Thanks for all the suggestions everyone :-), including one or two which were sent to me by email. So I've ended up making the following donations: £200 to each of Help for heroes, Crisis, Action Against Hunger UK, Cancer Research UK, Tacade, Fook Chain UK, GMFA, Médecins Sans Frontières, but £500 to the Albert Kennedy Trust given all the support in the above comments. I also sent an email to Gay Money Man asking him which of the registered Rambert dance charities would be the right one for the donation, and if I get a response I'll given them £100. It all adds up to £2.2k, slightly over budget, but it is Christmas after all!

Cool GB, I'm sure the Albert Kennedy Trust will put the money to good use, as I'm sure the other charities will. Have a fantastic Christmas with boyfriend T.

Despite my promotion of the Rambert Dance Company, I think the Albert Kennedy Trust is a very good suggestion. I wish they were around for me: I told my mother I was gay when I was 15. My father responded by beating me up, breaking my arm in the attack and then he threw me out of the house. i had no where to go and so returned home after 4 days in a bus shelter and agreed not to be gay. the rest is history.

Thank you very much for your donation to Tacade. They cover their costs with the ed materials they produce and they will really appreciate your contribution. They get a lot of crap from parents, schools etc about their Tacking Homophobia programme in schools, but they tough it out.
I do some work for them in other ways and I know that this will mean a lot.
That tree is gorgeous.
The Christmas Tree of the Republic in Prague is so lovely. There's a little back for charity, for children in needs.
Nice! You are such a good person. Despite of what foundation you choice to donate but the most important is you inserted time and love to share what you have. God Bless always.
