Protestors demonstrate near the Bank of England
Earlier today, I couldn't resist walking down to see the G20 demo outside the Bank of England. Risking life and limb, your intrepid correspondent managed to climb onto a traffic light and snap the picture above. Sorry to say, not much happening at the moment I took the pic, but I'm pretty sure that the RBS branch that got attacked is the one visible on the near right hand side of the pic!

Well there is a justice in this world..I think the happy days are over for bankers, over paids, lol..at least I still got my job...
Thank God I managed to get out of London for this. Although I do work close to Bishopsgate, I don't think I'd have liked to have seen this in person.
What I DID notice, however, was the following: on the BBC website yesterday, there was a picture of a man smashing a window outside a bank. And all around him and behind him weren't other protestors, weren't people concerned about injustice in the world, weren't people concerned about redressing the imbalance, etc. He was surrounded by about 50 photographers. Professional, news-organisation photographers.
The whole thing was (is) a publicity stunt, for a salivating media, intent on hyping this protest up beyond any recognition. They lust for blood, they publish outlandish and socially irresponsible stories in the (false) guise of public interest, and they are responsible for feeding a great deal of the attention-seeking antics of the anti-social and violent overgrown yobs disguised as social activists.
Well, I work just down the road and ride through the 'affected' area on my throbbing crotch rocket (a Vespa). My journey to work was brilliant. No traffic at all! My journey back takes me further west and was brilliant. No traffic, again.
I went out and got a sandwich close to Moorgate at lunch and didn't see anything out of the ordinary :-)
I'm sure if I were closer to Liverpool St I'd have seen something, but for me it was just a nice quiet day at the office. 'Management' had urges people to stay home...
The protestors smashing up that branch was pretty stupid. RBS is now owned by re British taxpayer. It's the tax payer who now get to foot the bill for the repairs. Smashing up that branch was about as clever as them breaking their own windows and smashing their own China because they're angry with themselves.
Well Kenski, that protest was little more than your average queue at the moorgate Pret. No wonder you though it was business as usual. :-)
Oh, I tend to go to the Pret further up City Road. Much more civilized. No moshing allowed!
I didn't find it too challenging at all. In fact I used it as an excuse to leave the office early and walk through the City en route home.
I had a phallus (yup) of riot police rush by me to Bishopsgate. I followed them and realised just how provocative it is having a line of riot police block you.
Well, you can see for yourself:

GB, were you one of the cityboys waving 10 pound notes at the protesters ??
How much money do the banks need?
At the end of the day we work for them, they are our real boss!
