Travelling again

I've been travelling again, so as usual when that happens, I've haven't had much time to write posts for this blog. The last weekend in August, me and boyfriend T went to visit some friends for a long weekend, and then the first weekend in September we left London for a longer holiday.

Below I've posted four pics. The first two are from the long weekend at the end of August, and the last two are from the start of this longer holiday. But can anyone identify the countries where the pictures were taken (or for full marks, the cities where the first and the fourth photo were taken)?

Dear GB

The first one is easy (I think), that is Edinburgh, Scotland. The second one is more difficult. That church doesn't ring a bell (so to speak). But my guess would be: Madrid, Spain (?).

Best regards from one of your Danish fans

Edinburgh and Lisbon?

Edinburgh and Buenos Aires?

(judging from what seems to be penguins it must be down south somewhere...although the weather seems too nice considering it's the end of winter over there)

Yes, Edinburgh is an easy one with the clincher being Arthur's Seat at the far right. The last pic's not Lisbon though. I know that city too well and yes, those penguins do suggest somewhere very southerly. I am going to plonk for Chile!

Hmm, EDI is the first one. And, yeah, the second place has to be southern hemisphere. I'm going for Santiago - Chile (Plaza de Armas). I went on business in August a few years ago, and it can be wonderfully sunny in their winter. Hope you are going skiing as well? (I managed to slip in a sneaky day trip)

Hehe, you're all right about Edinburgh of course :-), and the southern hemisphere is also right. Well done to the third anonymous commenter for spotting the penguins! But we're not in Chile or Argentina.

Lima, Peru?

At last, someone has got the country right, well done James :-). However, it's not Lima, it's Arequipa, Perú's second largest city. I visited Argentina and Chile with ex-boyfriend P, but neither myself nor boyfriend T had ever been to Perú so we decided that it would be a good choice for our main holiday of 2010! I'll do a post about it in due course :-).
